F.A.Q.
1) How do I use Brief Encounter (Reading)?
  Firstly, you need to register as a member. After your membership has been processed, we will send you a confirmation email.

When you are ready to use the system, click the login button (above) and enter your logon name & password. You will be taken to the 'My Correspondence' screen which lists your encounters and responses. From this screen, you can view the encounter and response details in full and similarly, respond to an encounter / response. To view all available encounters, click the button 'Available Encounters'. To create your own encounter, click the 'Submit an Encounter' button.

2) Are my membership details secure?
  Yes; All details are stored on secure SSL servers.

3) Are my payment details secure?
  No payment details are handled or recorded by us. Paypal is the payment mechanism and we only get notified when subscriptions are received.

4) Do you accept any other form of payment?
  Unfortunately, due to costs, we are only willing to accept payment via this mechanism. Paypal is completely secure and safe.

5) Why is there a subscription charge?
Brief Encounter is run by local people for local people. The subscription charge covers the hosting prices charged by our internet service provider, and the costs in the administration in running the website and advertising for members.

6) Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
  Yes; Follow the instructions in paypal to cancel the subscription. Unfortunately, monthly fees cannot be refunded.

7) Can I change my personal details / screen name / password?
Yes; Please send a request via the 'Contact us' page.

8) None of my requests are getting satisfied - can you help?
  Unfortunately, we're not a dating service. Rest assured, there are plenty of subscribers who do view your details.

9) I'm about to have a Brief Encounter, do you have any advice?
  Yes; Be sensible in what information you give out, and the situations you find yourself in. Members are not vetted, so you have to use common sense.

10) I'm not from the local area - can you help me?
  Yes; Brief Encounter will shortly be expanding to satisfy customers in other parts of the country. In the meantime, you may have to travel for your Brief Encounters.

11) Are you planning on introducing new features to your service?
  It is possible that hosted encounter sessions will be featured soon. If this is of particular interest, then please let us know.

12) Are there any technical requirements for using this service?
  Yes; Brief Encounter runs with ASP (Active Service Pages) - this means that your browser must be able to handle these for it to work properly. By default,  most browsers are already enabled.

13) What will my email address be used for?
  When you join Brief Encounter, you will be emailed confirmation of your membership. The only other time we will contact you, is if there are problems with your membership. You will not receive any other mailings from us. Please note, this service does not email you when you receive responses to your encounters.

14) Anything else I should know?
  Due to system limitations, encounters and responses over 60days old may be deleted.
